Hehe... how do you like my odd comic today? Spirited Away...! Whoosh! Let's see...Went to anime club at the college today...bona fide anime club with lotsa people. Not like ours. They showed Noir. I kinda thought it was okay, but not as good as I'd been hoping. The animation was pretty slick and I really liked the music a lot. However the plot was vague and odd and I couldn't read the subtitles (they were light color and thick font, usually I have no problem at all) so only understood about half of it. Whenever they get talking political, I get very confused. My understanding of Japanese is only so-so...I am far from fluent. Everyone compares it to real film noir, so I was expecting an intricate plot with lots of intrigue and complexity. Didn't really get much intrigue, but I got lots of gunplay. It seemed strange the way it started. I only saw three episodes, though, so it could either stay as simple pretty girls with guns or evolve into the complex drama it could be. I like that Kirika's character design.
I saw the rest of Evangelion. I have waited a long while to see the last disc, episodes 24-26. It was VERY BIZARRE, but I liked it. It was weirder, more confusing than lain and very emotional. I like episode 24 a lot too. Now I know what everybody's talking about like ''Episode 24! Episode 24!'' I like Kaworu, I think he's cool. His character design rocks. The scene near the end made me sniff and hold back tears (although that may be my disease at work). I won't give you any spoilers, you'll have to watch it for yourself (i mean, come on. Eva is like a requirement for anime fandom, whether you love it or you hate it.). Kaworu was the first person who really cared about Shinji and it's their relationship that makes the ending so dramatic. Whether they are just friends or more than that, it's your call. I think, well, they do blush an awful lot for friends. ''Kimi to?" It's rather obvious. ^_^ But what I think is of no consquence. As I said, It's your opinion. I mean its not everyday that somebody tells you ''I think I was born to meet you.'' Or something like that. Anyway, watch it.
My friend M.C. does not like Kaworu for all his bishounen-ness. I guess you would call his condition ''bishiphobia'' as he is deathly afraid of pretty boys. *spooky voice* They are the things that live under his bed, and come out at night to scare innocent people with their sparkling eyes, glittering menacingly in the dark. (hehe, I know a dozen girls who would give an arm and a leg to have bishounen haunting under their bed.) That's the reason he sleeps in the basement computer room, or so he says. heh. ^_^ Well, I got him to take an Eva personality test I found online (there's the link) and the results were quite astounding. I was most like Asuka (Aiyahh! how scary. I'm not that mean.). His was...Nagisa Kaworu! I had a fun time teasing him the next day, that's for sure. That was the same day he heard that Gundam Wing and Bebop had some of the same writers or something. His night was ruined. *sigh* Those boys, when will they learn?
Oh, yeah. And What is up with the cancellation of Bebop on televison? It wasn't shown last sunday and they have taken it off the Adult Swim schedual! And Gundam! No more 08th. What about 0083?
I wish I could keep the style more consistent. The armor design changed. I haven't much time to work on it.
good cold remedy - 2 tablespoons of whiskey lemon and honey. Works really well.
Bebop is back on! Wowoo!
Sorry I haven't been updating daily. I have to work on portfolio. One month until National portfolio days (scared...)
I saw Omohide Poroporo. Very good film. Some people might get bored by it, but I really loved it. Some of the backrounds reminded me of the country near where I live in NY, minus the rice fields, of course. The some of the memory scenes were so funny.
I want to write a vampire story. I can't keep my mind on task. Too many ideas.
Been playing Vagrant Story on PSX. I shouldn't play video games...I should really be working, but they get so addicting. Plus Vagrant Story is special. Cool. And it has the extra special bonus of my favorite video game villain - the slender prophet Sydney, anemic of complexion, shirtless, and clad in black leather. Wowowowowowow! Evil is never looked better.
Sorry, I have to go now. Boring one panel setup strip again. Someday, I will finish the setup story and there will be funniness. Someday.
Oh yeah. Please PLEASE write me a little mail to tell me if it sucks so far or if you like it. Give me suggestions. Tell me about your sites! My inbox is always empty and I would really appreciate any feedback!
OH YEAH! I forgot!!! The cosplay! I won first prize at the anime club costume contest, out of all the people there. I was San. I used the princess mononoke costume that i wore for halloween a while back but never used to cosplay. I made this paper-mache mask, clay necklace beads, furry cape, etc. and i think it was one of the coolest halloween costumes I've even done. I'm glad i got to use it again. I felt guilty winning first, though, because even though everybody liked my costume, there were three people who came in late dressed up as the dudes from KO beast century, and their costumes were really, really good. They looked like the worked hard, maybe it was because they came in late that they won second. I think it should have been first. Anyhow, I got M. to dress up as Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu (I painted a mask and we got a black cloth for a long cloak.) and he won an honorable mention. He was not overly happy when he found out that behind the mask larva was supposed to be pretty, but oh well. Gina was a random catgirl. She didn't win, but she looked so cute and she got lots of applause. And after the show, we walked by the sign on the door and someone had recently wrote on it in in purple marker ''catgirl=hot.'' Gina had been the only catgirl there, so we got a kick out of that.
they showed scary movies...boogiepop phantom and magnetic rose. Both of them were 1337.
must go to sleep...oyasumi...
You know, I am so lucky I have parents who love anime too. All my friends' parents are like ''Hey, Are you watching those weird chinese cartoons again?'' My mom says something like...''Let's watch some more episodes of Inu Yasha tonight! that series is a really good one.'' My dad practices Japanese with me and reads manga. It's nice to have parents who share your hobbies. I like my folks, they are cool.
THANK YOU WOLVARR, SENDER OF MY FIRST FAN MAIL! YOU ROCK! 1337!
English papers are done! Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and update more often. I'm probably not going to write a long entry, for I am tired, it's midnight, and I only got three hours sleep last night. I took at nap at lunch break, slept on the couch for two hours and woke up five minutes before the beginning of class. I barely made it.
